The Subtle Art of#

Seam-Walking#

The boundaries between realities may seem firm and well-defined, but they are a lot thinner than they may seem. Those with eyes to see them are aware of innumerable points where infinitesimal cracks appear in the walls of reality-space. With the right techniques, these fissures can be stretched open into seams big enough to pass through into the space between and into other realities.

Many multiversal beings are capable, to varying degrees, of traversing seams in an art and practice known as seam-walking. There is no single technique; some cultures carry their unique ways down through generations, while in others individual seam-walkers hone their own styles.

Some, like the Burrowkind, are seam-aware but shun the walking art entirely. They treat seam-walkers with suspicion or outright hostility, particularly those whose techniques leave reality distortions in their wake.

Others, like the Continua, are defined by their frequent transitions between realities. Indeed, it is dangerous for Continua to remain in a single reality for an extended period of time, as the immense entropy bound to them by constant seam-walking gradually distorts the fabric of realities they linger in.
